what's new?

Since I haven't been on here much lately, you might be thinking, "Hmm, I wonder what's new in Laurie's life?" You probably are. Also, I am not really a narcissist, I'm joking. But on the off chance you were in fact wondering, here's what's new:

Not much actually. School is tough. I have my first ever debate tomorrow (unless my debate for Spoken Comm counts...) and I am super nervous. I also have a ton of other assignments due this week and for the rest of the semester. It is crazy how much work gets done in such a short amount of time. But somehow, it gets done.

Life is great but a little tough lately. I have been learning a lot about what it means to be faithful - to be faithful to God, faithful to my church, faithful to my friends, faithful to my classes, etc. All of it is important, and all of it can be hard at times. But part of being faithful is being faithful when it's tough. Because anyone can be a friend when it's easy. Anyone can leave a church just because everyone else is. I just want to be faithful to what God's called me to, and I'm learning what it looks like. I'm learning about faithfulness like never before, but am being stretched in every area in regards to it.

On a totally different note, today's chapel was phenomenal. Anthony Kidd has always been a favorite speaker of mine, and he nailed it once again today. He spoke out of Colossians (which I've been studying this semester with my Bible study) so of course it was great - Colossians is all about the centrality and sufficiency of Christ. What could be better?! He spoke out of chapter one, verses 21-23 and his points were 1)Remember your former condition, 2)Marvel at your present reality, and 3)Continue in your current faith. If we daily did those things, our lives would be totally different. Here's my favorite quote from chapel this morning: "If you don't see yourself as a great sinner, you won't see Christ as a great Savior." Anthony Kidd

On a lighter note, I am enjoying the social side of my senior year. I've been able to spend more time with a lot of the girls in my dorm and they are just the best. Our school-wide fall event is coming up this weekend and I am SO excited - I'm going with a great group! Two close friends since freshman year are now engaged  and Lindsay and I had the privilege of helping the Brooks throw an engagement party on Friday.

Other than all that, life is normal and steady and the same. I'm enjoying life but I also enjoy sleep and fun things like that so I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving when I get to go HOME.

Hope you all have a great night!
